Whether your venue has some hidden rules about what’s allowed or you change your mind and want a different look for your ceremony or reception, last-minute wedding decor adjustments don’t have to be stressful. These tips can make it all come together just right without disrupting your feelings of excited anticipation for the big day.

Making Last Minute Wedding Decor Adjustments

Choose a Specific Theme

The closer you are to your wedding date, the more things you’ll need to take care of. From picking up your dress or suit from the tailor to chatting with friends and family on the phone to give last-minute details about travel and accommodations, getting down to the wire means tying up loose ends and spending a lot of time focused on the wedding. That means you may not have a ton of time to worry about decor, but you can work around that by choosing a specific theme for your decor changes.

Make sure your theme matches with the wedding colors you’ve selected and the setting for the event. If you’re getting married on the beach, sticking with a nautical or tropical theme can make it easier to pick out attractive and elegant decor items without spending a ton of time considering all the available options out there.

If you already chose a theme for your wedding and you want to make small adjustments like swapping out your reception table centerpieces, just stick with that theme. You can make little changes like choosing vases in different colors or adding small details like feathers or silk butterflies to the floral arrangement on each table.

Stay Focused on a Few Specific Things

With just a few weeks or even a few days to go before the wedding finally arrives, you don’t want to take on huge new projects that may not actually get finished. If you’re feeling unsatisfied with your vision for the wedding, try to focus on one or two elements to make it right.

For example, if you don’t think your ceremony is going to look glamorous enough, you can work on finding a new aisle running and some chair or church pew decorations to make the event look more formal and elegant. For the reception, you can get some themed place card holders to add a little bit of extra interest to your dinner tables and make them more decorative. Don’t try to take on any elaborate decor DIY projects unless you know you have the time to finish it before the wedding. Going for pre-made decor items is a good idea when you’re close to the wedding date.

Pause and Consider

Before you start making big changes, though, it can be helpful to take a moment and really think about why you want to change your decor. Are you just feeling a little nervous about the event and are starting to over-analyze every detail? If so, making decor adjustments may not be a great idea. You might just need to take a little break from wedding planning for a day or two and relax. Your wedding is going to be beautiful and memorable no matter what, so don’t sweat the small stuff.
