As we swing into the summer, we have had a look at some trends we have seen this year so far, and we have some ideas of what is yet to come. Even though weddings are always a celebration of some kind of long-held traditions, a lot of couples have fun with the event. New styles, activities, fashions and flavors always find their way into an important celebration like this. So, let’s take a little survey of the hottest new things we have seen popping up at parties and ceremonies in 2021.

Wedding Trends for 2021

  • Non-Traditional Brides

Our recent times have been an exercise in all things new, and a reason to celebrate no matter the event. With this exuberance and unique vibe, this year has featured some interesting developments in bridal fashion. We have seen ladies dressing for the big day in bold colors. Think gold, hot pink and even multicolor sequin to get some idea of what’s out there. Also popular are unique accessories like chunky heel shoes or outlandish headwear like fascinators, bird and floral themed headdresses, crowns and beadwork.

This goes for bouquets as well. Some brides have chosen personalized arrangements with the addition of toys, fruit or feathers present among the flowers.

  • Designer Lighting

As the party is the most important part for a lot of the guests, there is a lot of focus already on making the night really sparkle. 2021 has seen some crazy illumination arrangements. Having small, “fairy” or Christmas-style lighting has been popular for a while, but the bulb style has been a lot more playful lately. Some string lighting has color rotations, or bulbs in fun shapes such as floral or tropical-themed varieties. Bare bulbs are making the scene for a rustic look. There are also neon light displays around, for ambiance or to display the couples’ names.

  • Outdoor or Scaled-Down Events

We have all just learned a valuable lesson about the importance of the people in our lives. A lot of us are very excited to be at enlarge events again, and experience the special vibe that comes around from a big, close-knit group. But a lot of us are also thinking twice about bigger being better when it comes to a wedding right now. Brides and grooms seem to be focusing on choosing the closest people in their lives, and then putting a lot of resources into a smaller celebration.

The trend of being outside steam from safety concerns, but also the newness we are all sharing with being together again. It is nice to let people take their time, and slowly share space with large groups again. And it’s great to have the option of being in fresh air, or away from people, if desired.

However, you decide to celebrate, make sure you create your own special mix of old and new. Honor the traditions of your families, but keep an eye out for new or exciting trends that could add a little spark to your day.
